Steve Irwin
Steve Irwin, better known by his nickname “The Crocodile Hunter” died today at approximately 11am (AEST).
The australian environmentalist and TV personality was filming a documentary off of Batt Coast in northen Queensland when he was apparently stung through the left side of his chest (and possibly his heart) by the tail of a stingray. After he was stung, his crew called for medical help and the Queensland Rescue Helicopter responded, taking him to Cairns Base Hospital; sadly, Irwin was immediately pronounced dead at the scene.

His wife Terri received the news while on a hike in Cradle Mountain, Tasmania. He is survived by his wife Terri, daughter Bindi (8), and son Robert (2).

He will be missed by millions of people, but will never be forgotten. His work with animals has inspired many to get into the same line of work, guaranteeing that his dream to help animals will live on.

One Response to ““Crocodile Hunter” dead at 44”

Okay, I’m pissed. I’ve been hearing about one ultra-feminist author, Germaine Greer, that was totally bashing Irwin after he died. Wow, now THAT’S civilized.

“The animal world had taken revenge on ’self-deluded animal tormentor Steve Irwin’.”

What a cunt. So I decided to research her, as I would like to know my target before bashing them. First off, she has a Wikipedia listing (which should be pulled); also Googling her will bring up a whole “google-gaggle” of sites tainted by her name. One interesting point is that while she is claimed to be a distinguished author, I had to click through many pages before finding any entries that were about her works, rather than the free publicity that she is shamelessly grabbing by disrespecting the dead.

I for one hope some stingray somewhere decides to plunge its serrated barbed tail right into her chest, and at least chisel SOME ice off of the black lump she calls a heart.

Something to say?
